Top 5 Best CASPer Test Prep Resources
Do you actually need to study for the CASPer test? Some people say you shouldn’t study for it at all – but personally, I believe most candidates would benefit from at least some sort of practice. Why? Because CASPer’s time constraints are tight, and practicing helps you get used to thinking on your feet and crafting clear, concise answers within a limited timeframe. In this article, I’ll share some of my top 5 CASPer test prep resources to help you prepare, so you can walk into test day feeling confident and ready to show off your skills. That being said, it’s important not to overdo it. Just like with interview prep, there’s such a thing as too much practice. If your responses start sounding robotic (think Siri could be reading your answers instead), it might be time to take a break and reset!
Still confused about what exactly the CASPer test is and if you even need to take it? No problem! Check out this article.
Online Resources to Study for the CASPer Test
When preparing for the CASPer test, choosing the right resources can make a big difference in your performance. Not to sound like a total Gen Z, but technology has revolutionized the world in many ways – including studying for the CASPer test! There are plenty of online resources available to help you practice for the CASPer test. In fact, because CASPer itself is an online exam, these resources are often preferable because they simulate actual testing conditions. Read on to find out more about a few of my favourites!
CASPer Booster: A Helpful AI Based Tool for CASPer Prep
CASPer Booster is a newer tool in the CASPer prep world, using AI to provide feedback on your typed and video responses. It offers two tiers: a free version and a paid membership. The free tier gives basic feedback on one out of three responses per scenario. On the other hand, the paid version – priced between $125 and $299 USD depending on the plan you choose – offers more in-depth feedback and covers more responses per scenario. I personally used the free version and still found it helpful!
CASPer Booster’s standout feature is its AI-driven feedback on video and typed responses, which is rare among CASPer prep tools. The practice scenarios help you get familiar with the test requirements and improve your timing. Although I found that they are somewhat simpler compared to actual CASPer scenarios, the feedback is still valuable—especially considering many other prep tools don’t provide this level of guidance.
Overall, CASPer Booster is a useful tool for practicing video responses and refining your timing. While the scenarios may not be as challenging as the real test, the feedback—particularly in the free version—is helpful and a great resource for CASPer prep.
Acuity Insights Official Practice Tests: A Free Tool to Help You Understand The Test Format
Acuity Insights, the company behind the CASPer test, offers free practice tests on their website. These tests are an excellent way to get familiar with the CASPer format, the types of scenarios you’ll face, and the time constraints you’ll be working under. Be sure to complete at least one practice test before taking the real exam—you can retake the practice test as many times as you’d like!
While the Acuity practice tests are a valuable resource, they do have one drawback: they aren’t marked, and they don’t provide feedback. Unlike other practice tests associated with tests like the MCAT or AAMC PREview, which offer answer keys or detailed scoring, these CASPer practice tests won’t give you any feedback on your performance.
PrepMatch: A Free Tool for CASPer Typed Responses
PrepMatch is a free platform designed to help you practice the typed response section of the CASPer test. The website presents written scenarios, prompting you to type responses to three related questions. You also have the option to submit your answers for feedback from other PrepMatch users. Although the feedback isn’t from experts, getting perspectives from fellow test takers can still be useful!
PrepMatch is a great resource for improving your typing speed and practicing the CASPer’s written response section. However, it’s important to note that it doesn’t offer practice for the video response section. On the plus side, PrepMatch is completely free with no limits on how many scenarios you can attempt per study session. You can also customize your study sessions by choosing the number of scenarios you want to work on at once!
Using ChatGPT For CASPer Practice: A Free AI-Based Tool
I know…I rolled my eyes a bit at this suggestion at first too, and this one really does make me sound like a total Gen Z. However, ChatGPT can be a very valuable tool for CASPer practice. Similar to how CASPer booster uses AI to mark your responses, you can ask ChatGPT to create CASPer scenarios for you, time yourself while typing the responses, and then ask ChatGPT to mark your typed responses!
While ChatGPT’s feedback may not always be 100% accurate, it’s still a completely free resource that offers valuable practice. You can access a variety of scenarios and work on your timing – without spending any money.
Physical Resources to Study for the CASPer Test
While online resources are super handy, physical resources like books and study guides can offer a more structured, in-depth way to prepare for the CASPer test. These materials often break down the test format, provide helpful strategies for answering questions, and give tips on managing the time limits. Plus, they include practice exercises and sample scenarios that let you work on forming clear and concise responses. If you’re someone who prefers studying without screens or just wants a change of pace, physical study materials are a great way to reinforce what you’ve learned and build your confidence for the test!
BeMo’s CASPer Test Prep Book
If you’re preparing for the CASPer test, BeMo’s CASPer Test Prep Book is a helpful resource. I would recommend reading it at the beginning of your preparation to give yourself a solid foundation in terms of what to expect from the CASPer test. It offers detailed strategies, explanations of the test format, and plenty of practice scenarios to help you get comfortable with the CASPer test. The book walks you through each question type step-by-step, making sure you know exactly how to approach each scenario.
However, one common piece of feedback is that some of the sample answers in the book are a bit longer than what you can realistically write within the CASPer test’s strict time limits. While the answers are well-written and thorough, they can sometimes feel a bit too detailed for the quick thinking and concise responses that the test requires. So, while BeMo’s book is fantastic for understanding the test format and question types, it’s important to also practice creating shorter, more direct responses that fit within the time constraints. Additionally, unlike some of the online resources I have mentioned, the book is not free of charge (but it can be purchased on Amazon), and does not offer any personalized feedback.
Final Thoughts
I know the CASPer test can seem daunting, but hopefully my top 5 best CASPer test prep resources list gives you someplace to start! Remember – CASPer wants to elicit real responses, so try and be yourself! These practice resources are only meant to help you practice how to communicate your thoughts clearly and succinctly so you can showcase your skills on test day.
