FAQ
Since 1999, we’ve been asked a lot of questions. Find answers to the most common inquiries below.
Why is the in-person prep course called Classroom Plus?

Our in-person prep course is called Classroom Plus because of its unique mix of in-person classes on weekday mornings and weekday evenings and live online classes on weekends. Each class is offered three times weekly and you can attend whichever one – or more – you choose. It’s totally your call.

Why is the online prep course called Online Flex?

Our online prep course is called Online Flex because it brings each live online class to you three times weekly – weekday morning, weekday evening, and weekend – for you to choose from. Join whichever class is most convenient for you.

What are the unique features of Prep101's prep course?

138 hours of live instruction. The most comprehensive MCAT prep course spread over 8-10 weeks to give you ample time to digest everything.
Most instruction hours on CARS. 32 hours of live instruction devoted to the challenging CARS section is more than our leading competitors combined.
Flexible Schedule. Classes are offered three times weekly to allow you to attend whatever class best fits your schedule.

Guided Practice. Expert instructors walk you through 6-8 practice passages in every class.
Instructors hired by students at competitive auditions. We can’t think of anyone better qualified than students to spot the best teachers so we let your peers decide who we hire.

What is the structure of the prep course?

Our prep course delivers 138 hours of intense live instruction, which includes 44 Lessons covering basic science. We offer 32 in-class exams and 23 after-class practice sets. Plus, there’s 28 workshops that will help you master the skills and strategies you’ll need for the MCATs unique passage-based questions. We also provide you with a Personalized Study Plan that gives you a day-to-day breakdown of what to study and practice outside of course hours and during the crucial weeks between the end of the prep course and your test day.

What is the format of the prep course?

We break down the MCAT into 44 lessons that our study guides cover in individual chapters. Before class, students read each chapter and work through 24 practice questions. In class, the first half is devoted to an engaging 1-hour lecture, followed by a 30-minutes passage-based in-class exam and a 30-minute review of the in-class exam. After class, we offer a practice set of online passages to further reinforce the topics and skills students learned before class and in class.

What is “uniquely comprehensive” about the prep course?

Prep101 takes a more comprehensive approach. We teach you all the science on the MCAT. We also help you master the MCAT’s challenging passage-based format. And we hone your critical thinking and reasoning skills. When you nail these three areas – knowledge, skills, strategies – you’ll get that higher score.

We offer 138 hours of live instruction – more than any other company. That includes 44 Lessons covering the basic science. But we also devote much more time to guided practice than other MCAT prep companies. Our 32 In-Class Exams and 28 Workshops led by expert prep instructors will help you master the skills and strategies you’ll need for the MCAT’s passage-based questions.

All of this adds up to a prep course that offers more of everything you need to get a top score.

What is "flexible" about the schedule?

We’re the only MCAT prep company that lets students customize their weekly schedule by offering each class* three times.

Our Classroom Plus course helps you juggle your busy schedule and make the most of prepping for the hardest test of your life with a unique mix of in-person classroom prep on weekdays and weeknights and live online prep on weekends.** Should you prefer to stay in your pajamas the entire time, our Online Flex course brings each live online class to you on weekdays, weeknights and weekends.

*Workshops not included in flexible schedule
**Classroom Plus course in Kingston and Montreal has clssroom prep on weekdays and online prep on weeknights and weekends

What is "unlimited" about the free repeat policy?

Unlike our competitors, you can repeat our prep course any time and as often as you want. No restrictions or qualifications. No questions asked. No strings attached.

Using what’s you’ve learned directly after you’ve learned it is the best way to ensure that your newfound knowledge really sticks. After completing each in-class exam, the instructor walks you through it and shows you how to analyze the passages, dissect the question stems, and attack the answer choices.

After-Class Practice Sets of 5-10 passages for each class are used to strengthen your grasp of the topic covered in each class and how it’s presented on the MCAT. They’re online, with the exact same interface as the MCAT.

What are Instructor Auditions?

We put prospective instructors through a competitive audion by having them teach a mock prep class to a room full of our former MCAT students. We can’t think of anyone better qualified than students to spot the best teachers, so we let your peers decide who we hire. No other prep company goes to these lengths to find the best instructors.

Is the online prep course the same as the classroom prep course?

Yes, it has all the same features except the classroom setting. It also boasts one advantage: we hand-pick our very best MCAT prep instructors from across the country to teach live online prep courses.

If I’m signed up for a classroom prep course, can I switch to an online prep course and vice versa?

Yes, contact us by phone or email to switch courses.
