Andrea Kassay

(Physics)

Andrea Kassay is currently studying for an Honor Specialization in Medical Biophysics (Clinic Physics Concentration) at Western University and scored a 515 on the MCAT. She is applying to medical school for this upcoming year. Andrea volunteers at the Student Development Centre for the Peer Assisted Learning Centre as both a math and physics tutor. Andrea loves helping students by giving them the confidence and skills to succeed in their courses!

Bob Stanley

(Chem/OChem)

Bob Stanley graduated as Class Valedictorian with a B.Sc. majoring in Environmental Chemistry and he later completed a M.Sc.. in Analytical Chemistry. Bob has been a highly rated prep instructor for General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry since 2010. He also has teaching experience as a TA for General Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry and he has privately tutored students in Organic Chemistry. Bob likes to use simple analogies to explain complex concepts and he focuses on giving concise explanations to get his points across. He likes to provide a relaxing learning environment, where students are not intimidated to ask questions and have fun in the process.

Dr. Torah Kachur

(Cars, Bio/Biochem)

Dr. Torah Kachur has completed a B.Sc. (Honors) in Molecular Genetics and a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics at the University of Alberta. Torah has extensive experience teaching Biology Labs and Workshops. All of this has enabled her to identify common problem areas for students and the best ways to help you understand difficult concepts. Torah’s teaching style relies on logical analysis and the use of real-world examples to illustrate biological concepts in a simple and concise manner.

Emma Nicholls-Allison

(Chem/OChem)

Emma Nicholls-Allison has completed a B.Sc. in Chemistry. She is now working on a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Victoria. Emma is an enthusiastic instructor whose talents in the classroom have been recognized with teaching awards from the Department of Chemistry. She has experience instructing students from high school level to upper year undergraduate. Jamie Ward

(Phys/Soc, Bio/Biochem)

Jamie Ward attended the University of Victoria as an undergraduate, where he completed degrees in Psychology and Biology. In 2015, he was accepted into the M.D. program at the University of Alberta, where he recently completed his first year of studies. Jamie has a great deal of experience with both the MCAT and the medical school admissions process, and he is really enthusiastic to help guide Prep101 students through this challenging journey. His teaching style is structured but also aims to create an open and energetic atmosphere to help you fully prepare for the MCAT.

Jared Enns

(Phys/Soc)

Jared Enns graduated with a B.Sc. (Honours) in Mathematical Physics in 2014. He is now working on an M.Sc. in High Energy Physics at McMaster University. Jared has been teaching Physics and Math since 2009 and has developed a passion for learning by teaching. For the latter half of his undergraduate years, he was a TA in three courses each semester. Whether one-on-one tutoring, demonstrating for small groups in a lab, or teaching a tutorial for an entire class of students, he excels at presenting Physics in simple terms by reducing problems to basic principles that students already understand and translating complexity into terms that are more readily understood. He likes to encourage open discussion among his students and prefers to act more like a mediator than a lecturer.

Joel Hutchinson

(Physics)

Joel Hutchinson completed a B.Sc. (Honours) in Physics at the University of Alberta. He is currently working on a M.Sc. in Physics, String Theory at the University of British Columbia.  Joel has been actively involved in teaching Math and Physics as a TA and tutor. He believes that good teaching requires presenting the perfect mix of both familiar and new. Joel’s teaching style emphasizes usage of thought processes that lead into successful problem solving.

Kate Kennedy

(Phys/Soc, Bio/Biochem)

Kate Kennedy holds a B.Sc. (Honours) in Biomedical Sciences and scored a 35M on the MCAT, including a 14 in Verbal Reasoning and an 11 in Biological Sciences. She is currently a studying for a Master’s degree in Microbiology at the University of Waterloo. Kate’s teaching experience includes five years as a certified Canadian Yachting Association sailing instructor. More recently, she has acted as a TA for upper year Biology courses in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Biotechnology. Kate’s teaching style encourages active participation to facilitate recall of core concepts.

Stone Li

(Phys/Soc, Bio/Biochem)

Stone Li is a University of Alberta graduate, where he completed his Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Health, he scored a 31 on his MCAT. In 2015, Stone was accepted into the MD program at the University of Alberta. As a passionate advocate for education and student advocacy, he has led education related programs such as the Interdepartmental Science Students Society Mini Study Groups and MD Ambassadors. Having taught students in various capacities for a decade, Stone prioritizes an adaptive style of teaching concepts and their practical applications to a diverse audience. His educational skill has also been recognized by peers in the MD program, as he has taught lectures in evidence-based medicine to pre-clerkship students and will be involved in helping to develop the curriculum in the MD program.
