COVID-19 UPDATE

Based on the advice of public health officials and our own concerns about the well-being of students and instructors, we’ve decided to move everything to the safety of online course delivery.

It was a difficult decision but we believe it is the responsible thing to do amid a resurgent pandemic with proliferating variants of concern.

FAQ
Since 1999, we’ve been asked a lot of questions. Find answers to the most common inquiries below.
Why is the in-person course called Classroom Plus?

Our in-person prep course is called Classroom Plus because of its unique mix of in-person classes on weekday mornings and live online classes on weekday afternoons. Each class is offered two times weekly and you can attend whichever one – or more – you choose. It’s totally your call.

If you somehow miss both options, we’ve still got you covered. We also post a recording of each class to make it next to impossible for you to miss a class.

Why is the online course called Live Online Flex?

Our online prep course is called Live Online Flex because it brings each live online class to you four times weekly – weekday morning, weekday afternoon, weekday evening and weeknight – for you to choose from. Join whichever class is most convenient for you, or join more than one if you’d like to repeat a class.

If you somehow miss all four options, we’ve still got you covered. We also post a recording of each class to make it next to impossible for you to miss a class.

What is the structure of the course?

Our prep course delivers 146 hours of live instruction, which includes 48 Lessons covering the basic science concepts on the MCAT. We also offer 43 in-class exams and 14 in-class workshops to help you master the reasoning skills and strategies you’ll need for the MCATs unique passage-based questions.

Outside of class, your MCAT Coach will design a Personalized Study Plan with a day-to-day breakdown of what to study and practice outside of class and during the crucial weeks between the end of the prep course and test day.

What is the format of the course?

Before class, students read each chapter and work through content questions. In class, the first half is devoted to an engaging lecture covering the concepts in the before-class readings. Then, there’s a passage-based in-class exam on these same topics and a thorough instructor-led review of the in-class exam. After class, there’s online AAMC practice passages to further reinforce the topics and skills covered before class and in class.

What is “uniquely comprehensive” about the course?

Prep101 takes a more comprehensive approach. We teach you all the science on the MCAT. We also help you master the MCAT’s challenging passage-based format. And we hone your critical thinking and reasoning skills. When you nail these three areas – knowledge, skills, strategies – you’ll get that higher score.

We offer 146 hours of live instruction. That includes 48 Lessons covering the basic science. But we also devote much more time to guided practice than other MCAT prep companies. Our 43 In-Class Exams and 14 Workshops led by expert prep instructors will help you master the reasoning skills and strategies you’ll need for the MCAT’s passage-based questions.

All of this adds up to a prep course that offers more of everything you need to get a top score.

What is "flexible" about the schedule?

We’re the only MCAT prep company that lets students customize their weekly schedule by offering each class multiple times.

Our Live Online Flex course brings each live online class to you four times weekly – weekday morning, weekday afternoon, weekday evening and weeknight – for you to choose from. Join whichever class is most convenient for you, or join more than one if you’d like to repeat a class. If you somehow miss all four options, we also post a recording of each class to make it next to impossible for you to miss a class.

Our Classroom Plus course helps you juggle your busy schedule and make the most of prepping for the hardest test of your life with a unique mix of in-person classroom prep on weekday mornings and live online prep on weekday afternoons. The live online classes are recorded for you to watch whenever it’s most convenient for you.

How does Coaching work?

Every new student is paired with an expert MCAT Coach who will motivate you and reinforce good study and practice habits outside of class hours from the start of the prep course through to test day. Your MCAT Coach will design a Personalized Study Plan exactly tailored to your individual circumstances. They’ll consider your science background, target scores, test date and everything else happening in your life to design a day-to-day study and practice schedule that’s the absolute perfect fit for you. Thereafter, your Coach will regularly check in with you to keep you on track and fine-tune your Study Plan.

How does the Personalized Study Plan work?

We know how crucial extra study and practice can be so that’s where our Personalized Study Plan comes in. Whatever your test date, target scores, science background and other time commitments, you’ll receive a tailor-made day-by-day study and practice schedule for when you’re not in class, and for the all-important weeks leading up to the MCAT itself.

How do In-Class Exams work?

Our 43 In-Class Exams cover only the topics you learned in the preceding lesson. Using what you’ve learned directly after you’ve learned it is the best way to ensure that your newfound knowledge really sticks. After completing each In-Class Exam, the instructor walks you through it and shows you how to analyze the passages, dissect the question stems, and attack the answer choices.

How do CARS Workshops work?

Our 12 CARS workshops are devoted solely to high-yield test-taking techniques such as effective time management, mapping and analyzing passages, reasoning within and beyond the passage, simplifying question stems, and elimination strategies.

What are MedReels?

MedReels are 610 non-demand videos available for you to watch whenever it’s most convenient for you. 444 videos clearly and concisely explain every MCAT topic. Another 166 videos provide expert guidance on strategy and technique.

What are After-Class Practice Sets?

Our 23 After-Class Practice Sets of 5-10 passages are used to strengthen your grasp of the topic covered in each class and how it’s presented on the MCAT. They’re online, with the exact same interface as the MCAT.

What are Instructor Auditions?

We put prospective instructors through a competitive audion by having them teach a mock prep class to a room full of our former MCAT students. We can’t think of anyone better qualified than students to spot the best teachers, so we let your peers decide who we hire.

How do I sign up?

There are 2 ways to register for our course:

2. $100 deposit guarantees your spot but your course materials will not be shipped to you until you pay the balance.

If I only pay the $100 deposit, when is the balance due?

14 days before the start of the course so we have time to ship course materials to you before classes begin.

If I only pay the $100 deposit, how do I pay the balance?

Log into our account and select Pay Balance.

What is the refund policy?

1. 100% refund if you withdraw at least two weeks before the start of the prep course.

What is the discount policy?

We grant a maximum of one discount per student per prep course. If you are eligible for multiple discounts, we will honour the discount with the highest dollar value. No new or additional discounts will be granted to registered students after the course starts.

What is "unlimited" about the free repeat policy?

You can repeat our prep course any time and as often as you want until you reach your target scores. No restrictions or qualifications. No questions asked. No strings attached.

What materials are recommended for repeat students?

We recommend (not require) that repeat students purchase new or expired materials that are essential to full participation in the course. Such materials are offered to repeat students at significantly discounted prices.

Which materials have an expiry date?

The following materials expire after one year. Students who continue to repeat the course beyond one year have the option to purchase them again at significantly discounted prices:

  • AAMC practice materials
  • 10 Altius practice tests
  • Examkrackers KrackU platform

Expiry dates are set by the AAMC, Altius and Examkrackers so Prep101 is unable to extend your subscription beyond one year.

How do repeat students buy new materials?

The materials we recommend that you purchase depends on when you last took the course. The recommended materials are displayed at the end of the registration process for repeat students to pick which, if any, you want to purchase.
